Changing DNS

Does anyone know if the instructions on the Plusnet website for changing DNS on a Windows PC or a Mac change the DNS used by the computer or by the router.  I want to change the DNS on the router so that I can protect the whole house using OpenDnS rather than changing each device and leaving my kids to change the computer's settings again.
Thanks

Re: Changing DNS

Thanks for your help.  I think that looks like it is beyond my technical capabilities!  I take it that Plusnet's instructions only affect the individual device and not the router - is that right?

Re: Changing DNS

The above instructions configure the DNS settings of the Plusnet router.
If your PCs and other computing devices are set to use DHCP (automatic setup), then they will use the DNS configured in the router.
What router do you actually have ?

Re: Changing DNS

Thanks for your response.  I have the Technicolor 582n.
Oldjim's instructions look complex to a naive person like me.
I had been looking at Plusnet's guide:  http://www.plus.net/support/software/dns/changing_dns_mac.shtml
But I think Plusnet's guide may just change the individual device rather than the router......
Thanks again.

Re: Changing DNS

Have a look at method 2) here http://npr.me.uk/changedns.html
If it helps I can supply a telnet script file to change the routers dns settings. All you need do is enter the routers username / password in to a text file and run the script. (only works from windows PC's)
Let me know if you wish to try this.
