Certain Sites not responding and timing out

I notice the service issue regarding web sites not responding should be cured as of yesterday afternoon as the affected gateway was disconnected. Yesterday I was having issues accessing Ocado (I notice another customer had the same issue) we contacted Ocado and they said that their site was working but it was an access problem. Today Ocado is working but I now get a time out attempting to access East Midlands Trains. i.e the same as the Ocado issue yesterday. I have rebooted the router and no change. I also have another laptop that I use from home via plusnet but to a corporate network via vpn. The web access is via the corporate servers and that can access East Midlands train site.
Hope you can advise.

Re: Certain Sites not responding and timing out

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the forums.
I attempted to gain some information on the Ocado issue yesterday evening. We could find nothing within our network at fault and Ocado were not very forthcoming with details on why they believed it to be providers outside of their network.
We believe this to have been outside of our network,  but unable to say if it was or was not in the Ocado side.
I am able to access East Midland Trains site and our office uses the same core portions of the network to provide us access as our DSL customers.
Depending on your operating system, can you perform a traceroute to www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk and provide the output please.

I have got opendns server in my router as the dns server but I did try removing that and setting it to automatically use the isp dns server but it made no difference.

Re: Certain Sites not responding and timing out

Right, we have replicated it on a DSL line here.
Steve, can you confirm if leaving the page to load long enough generates a 504 Bad Gateway message similar to the one Strat reported?
This looks routing related on East Midland Trains side, as it is taking a different route based on the source IP.

Nope, the issue must have been with Iomart, 503s and 504s would usually indicate a server issue of some sort.

Re: Certain Sites not responding and timing out

I think adam meant iomart as well, you'll see it in the routing you and Strat posted.
