Cant access a website that I use regularly

This problem is occurring on my parents PlusNet network.  A website that they use regularly now cannot be reached. The computer attempts connection but times out with no response from the server.  We get the same problem on Mac mini (safari and Firefox), iPad and android tablet. The link can be accessed no problem on my home network - also plusnet. Heres the link:

https://systmonline.tpp-uk.com

The network uses a PlusNet router 2 years old or so - think its a 2704n. I have swapped another router in (BT HOmehub 5) but this made no difference.

Any help much appreciated.

Re: Cant access a website that I use regularly

Truly strange - that site is definitely up and running.

It may be worth setting the DNS on a machine to use Google DNS 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

As it's across platforms it's unlikely to be anything OS related and you've tried different routers.

If you have access to a windows machine there then running tracert in a Command box may help provide some information.

Start>Run>cmd

tracert systmonline.tpp-uk.com

Reset your browser settings back to default.  Works for me 😏

Re: Cant access a website that I use regularly

Thank you for your suggestion. I put the windows 10 platop on the network and attach a tracert and ping report. I wonder if you can help interpret as I am not familiar with network stuff!

Try this link Susy and let me know if it works, I get straight to the login page with it.

You might have to remove the date part to make it work...

Re: Cant access a website that I use regularly

I haven't done this because the link fails on any device I attach to the network. Mac mini, iPad, Windows 10 and Andriod tablet. I think that probably rules out the browser as the source of the problem.

Re: Cant access a website that I use regularly

That being the case, I'm not sure why you cannot get to it, I can click your link and I get the webpage as expected.  Other than your router getting in a muddle (give it a restart), if it's with different devices, I really don't know.  PlusNet don't care where you go on the internet, its a bit like 'buyer beware' when you purchase stuff privately, you need to look after yourself.  One thought, what security software do you use?  Are you using a software firewall like Norton360 or ZoneAlarm?

@SusyGee

What are the settings at https://www.plus.net/my-account/safeguard and https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=firewall&firewallPage=basic

Are either switched on at your parents but not at yours?

Re: Cant access a website that I use regularly

@SusyGee Thanks for the screengrabs both of which are fine in terms of what they tell us.

@SpendLessTime suggested

 4. Other folks can connect OK - so we know the site is up.

5. I assume that you can get to other https sites OK?

The thought that does come to mind is if your public IP address http://www.whatsmyip.org/ has been blacklisted on the service that is providing that web site. I have had first hand experience of a customer who had an ftp site shortcut on their desktop highlighted and resting their hand on the keyboard with the Enter Key pressed for a while. The result was our firewall saw this address as a source of hammering and blocked it automatically.

Hackers 'spoof' the source of their attacks using legitimate IP addresses and given the nature of the site you are trying to access it would make a good target.

It is just possible your IP address is out of the UK - this has happened! That would possibly explain the issue.

I don't know if swapping the router forces PN to allocate a new IP address, my guess is that it is linked to the account rather than the device.

Re: Cant access a website that I use regularly

I can vouch for the URL to Systm Online working outside of the UK, I have personally logged in from the US about 5 weeks ago, and I connected to it yesterday when testing.  Hope this helps.
