Hi,
Over the weekend I've struggled to connect to filefactory - my brother uses this site alot to send me videos to convert and upload to his website. I can ping their IP fine and I can also traceroute filefactory from terminal without any problems but if I go to www.filefactory.com the server times out. I've just tried accessing the site from work this morning and there's no issue whatsoever.
I've tried rebooting my router, I've used different browsers (firefox, chrome, safari) and the ping and traceroute tests I've done don't show anything out of the ordinary. Anyone got any ideas?
Cheers,
Jack

It's working fine for me - have you tried different DNS settings?
I currently use OpenDNS

I've tried OpenDNS, googles DNS servers and plusnet DNS. No change, even with a restart.
If I try to set the DNS servers on my router it won't connect to the internet... which I find a little strange. Do plusnet not let you do this?

if you are using a Plusnet router you need to do it as described here http://community.plus.net/library/dns/how-to-change-the-default-dns-servers-in-a-thomson-speedtouch-...

I'm using a netgear dgn3500 - setting alternative DNS is simple enough. But when I tell it to reconnect / reboot it just won't reconnect to the internet. If I remove this setting it'll connect fine. So I've been setting the alternative DNS on the network adapter.
Eitherway something strange is happening. I can't connect using the IP from a web browser either... but like I said before I can ping and do a traceroute on the IP fine.

Works fine for me - this is a tracert
However there is a problem with the link as posted.
If I do a tracert to www.filefactory.com/ it doesn't work with this result
C:\Users\Jim>tracert www.filefactory.com/
Unable to resolve target system name www.filefactory.com/.
whereas www.filefactory.com does
