Can you do anything for my speed?

Hi, I've been having issues with my phone line.  Noise on the line.  In general this has not affected my broadband speed. However it is so bad on the phone that my phone provider arranged for an engineer to come round.  Sadly while he was round the phone was well behaved.  In the end he changed the main socket which was a very old one.  I now have one with a removable front plate.
My broadband speed is now rubbish.  I'm guessing this is because of all the testing I have been doing, using different, filters, phones etc.
BT Wholesale test results are:
Download Speed: 0.67 Mbps
Upload Speed: 0.83 Mpbps
Ping Latency: 36.13 ms
My router says the ADSL stats are:
Upstream: 1.091 Mbps
Downstream: 8.820 Mbps
SNR Margin (up): 6.0
SNR Margin (dn.): 6.5
Line Atten. (up): 23.5
Line Atten. (dn.): 41.5
Can you kick the line to notice that things are better (the noise on the line does seem to have stopped)?
Thanks in advance.  S

Re: Can you do anything for my speed?

HI strider,
There seems to have been a fair few disconnections in the past 48 hours. I've attached your Visual Radius graph for you to see:

Is this from you disconnecting your router or random drops?

Re: Can you do anything for my speed?

Hi Linn,
Thanks for the graph. Like I said I have been doing testing, changing filters, phones to see if any of them were responsible for the noise on the line.
Looking at today:
10:00 was when the BT engineer was here.
16:00 & 16:30 More line speed checking and plugging my main phone back in.
Tuesday was me becoming more paranoid as I was consistently getting bad noise on the phone line and I tried to isolate the cause.  Not sure if the BT test they did would have cause a disconnect - was done about 18:30.  In fact now I think about it I did disconnect the router and had the phone plugged in directly as part of the testing and that would account for the gap in the trace between 18:30 and 19:00.
Saturday 16:30 was switching the phone to a wired one that gives me better speed as I had a big on-line gaming session that evening.
Is there any advantage to me telling the router to disconnect if I know I am going to disconnect the router from the telephone line?
I was only asking as I was hoping to game on-line tonight and 0.67 Mbps will not cut the mustard.  Perhaps I'll take the dog for a walk. S

If you know you are going to disconnect the router from the socket then it's recommended that you disconnect from within the router settings before disconnecting from the socket. This should stop the exchange from thinking that your line is unstable and reducing your speed.
I've had a look at your line and the line does seem to be very unstable. I would advise raising a fault here: http://faults.plus.net so that our Faults team can carry out further testing.

Re: Can you do anything for my speed?

Hi Jim,
Is says:
Estimated line speed:
There's no speed estimate currently held on your account.
Current line speed:
    0.7 Mb
I usually get about 7.0+ Mbps
I'll see how it goes over night.

Re: Can you do anything for my speed?

That should have been picked up but as the staff have probably gone off for the night I should try phoning asking for the Plusnet profile to be corrected as it should be 7.7Mb
After it has been changed you will probably need to drop the PPP session by selecting disconnect then connect on the router

Not all the staff  Cheesy
That's just been updated for you now.
If you log into your router and disconnect then reconnect your PPP session you should see a increase
