I'm moving into a new flat so naturally I'm looking at internet access. When I check with plusnet what services and speed I can get; they're telling me ADSL 2.5mb - 7.0mb with predicted speed of 3.0mb. However I know someone else in the area and they have fibre optic. I believe the exchange for the new flat is as above, and I think the exchange is compatible with fibre. So my question is, why can't I get a faster speed?
Cheers.

It needs the local cabinet which feeds the flat to be fibre enabled for fibre to be offered.
If you have a telephone number available put it in here to see what's available and a speed estimate.
A postcode check is not specific enough for fibre.

Thanks for the help. I don't have a phone line yet, but does that mean it may be possible that the property can get fibre?

It looks like the exchange is fibre enabled so it's down to cabinet level now.
The only sure fire ways to tell are either wait until you have a phone line in to check with or get an immediate neighbour to check theirs.
Having said that it is looking promising. Who are you going to for your phone service?

We're with plusnet for line and broadband, so I'll stick with plusnet I think.
