Can my connection be checked

Can someone on the DCT check my connection it seems for some reason that my ping has increased from 15ms to 20ms+ and i'm loosing nearly 3Mb in speed when doing speed tests,  profiles haven't changed, i did try switching gateways but no difference, has DLM kicked in for the first time for some reason ? , it's almost like my Peek time issues except it's now happing during he day.
Edit.. here is my TBB graph there is a big multi-coloured spike drop in the early hours no idea what this is the rest looks ok though.

Re: Can my connection be checked

HI there,
DLM hasn't dropped the profile, I can see that straight away. The connection looks stable to and seems to be at the correct profile.
So I can't see anything obvious, when did you notice this was starting to effect you and have you noticed any particular time during the day being more problematic for you?

Re: Can my connection be checked

Hi Adam thanks for checking, yeah I see that sync is fine, the speed test in my sig is what i normally get, this is what i'm getting at the moment
<a href="http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3509926058"><img src="http://www.speedtest.net/result/3509926058.png" /></a>
it's also taking a few seconds for the test to kick in when it usually starts straight away seems to be a latency issue of some kind as i say my ping has increased from 15ms to over 20ms, it use to be only during peek hours as i was posting in this thread  http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,124744.800.html
but it now seems to be happening during the day now

Re: Can my connection be checked

Is it the same via a PPPoE connection?

Re: Can my connection be checked

Hi Chris, I  just did a PPPOE connection test, Ping is still over 20ms, speed is up but still a little lower than i normally get

Re: Can my connection be checked

Interleaving is off on the downstream but it's on, on the upstream - that shouldn't really cause too many issues.
Latency is never guaranteed though so it'd be difficult for us to put our finger on the 10ms increase. Your downstream speeds look closer to where we'd expect them.

Re: Can my connection be checked

OK what' s going on my plusnet profile has dropped to 60Mb from 64mb and there is no estimate listed any more why is that it use to say up until this morning 67Mb,  is this so BTW can set a much lower one and i have no evidence to say what it was previously seems really strange it would disappear
Estimated line speed:
There's no speed estimate currently held on your account.
Current line speed:
   60.4 Mb
My  BT IP profile is also down to 60Mb BTW extended test attached
as you can see from my TBB graph my ping dropped back down to it's normal 15ms at around 5am this morning there is no connection drop that i can see as my IP address and gateway etc are the same so why the profiles drop my line has been rock solid so i dont see why it's been reduced has DLM kicked in even though tests show there would be no reason for it can they be put back to their previous levels,  something clearly not right going on

Re: Can my connection be checked

Hi,
Here are your line details:
Downstream Speed: 61.8 Mbps
Upstream Speed: 10.0 Mbps
Profile: 37M-74M Downstream, Interleaving Off - 5M-10M Upstream, Interleaving Off
As far as I can see, your line details haven't changed at all. Your line does have a few errors on it but it doesn't appear to be enough for Interleaving to be applied. What speeds do you get via a PPPoE connection?
It does look as though your line has had a resync which has increased your latency a little, most likely due to overnight maintenance - it's nothing to worry about. Your estimate disappeared on our systems, it should be back now. You can view it on the BT Availability website if this happens again. I've attached the errors shown on your line, this is based on data collected on your line within the last 15 minutes.

Re: Can my connection be checked

Chris how can you say nothing has changed I said my profiles for both plusnet and BT are down from 64Mb to now 60Mb  i have shown that in the above post, my sync has always been 65Mb which clearly it's not now  i don't get what your trying to say here, my estimate is now saying 29MB what the hell as i said above it was 67Mb up until this morning  Angry  can you please get my Plusnet and IP profiles back to where they were something is going on here and i'm not happy about it I sure hope plusnet is not doing something to cover up BTW plans to reduce my speed or something

Re: Can my connection be checked

There are no plans or cover ups at all.
There needs to be a understanding of how FTTC works, it really differs from ADSL. Your connection rate isn't guaranteed to be at 60Mb or 64Mb. Your line rate can differ depending on many things. An example could be that your line has started to error due to external influences which neither Plusnet, BT Wholesale or BT Openreach have any control over. If this was the case, either your sync rate will drop or Interleaving will be applied.
In this case, it appears that your sync rate has dropped (apologies I missed the 4Mb drop), it's still within the profile set which is as above: 37M-74M Downstream. We can't influence or change your IP Profile, we have very limited tools on FTTC. Unfortunately our suppliers will not see a 4Mb sync speed drop as a fault as it's within their expectations for the line. It's likely that the sync rate will pick up, however it takes time - it's not something we can rush as we're dependant on DLM.
With regards to your estimate, the data is pulled directly from BT's database, so unfortunately I can't say why it's been changed. I'll be writing up a guide over the next week or so on FTTC as it's not very clear on what customers should be expecting from the service and that's something that I'd quite like to address.

Re: Can my connection be checked

Thanks for the reply Chris just a little frustrated and annoyed the line has shown no signs at all even up to yesterday of being a problem now all of a sudden without warning my profiles drop and I loose 4Mb of Sync and that is deemed Ok, because the almighty BTW / BTO says so, if it were ADSL an ISP would do what they could to get the sync back so why not for FTTC  just sounds like a lot of convenient BS that BTW / BTO have laid down especially when they can cut my estimate by more than half with out warning or reason.
If FTTC is so different to ADSL why is not stated as such so we know before signing with a ISP is it because if we knew no one would bother.

just for reference this is how things were just 3 weeks ago when Dan was helping me with peek time latency issues what i have noticed is the profile range has change  it was 40M-80M Downstream, Interleaving Off - 7.5M-15M Upstream, Interleaving Off you have it now as  37M-74M Downstream, Interleaving Off - 5M-10M Upstream, Interleaving Off is that due to DLM or because my estimate has changed  any chance you can get BTW / BTO  to explain themselves as to why the estimate has been reduced by more than half.
Amazing that in almost three months of being on fibre my estimate can be cut by more than half, I can loose 4Mb of sync and maybe more and that is deemed as Ok

Re: Can my connection be checked

I do understand your frustration and I appreciate that there isn't a lot of information about FTTC and how DLM or how the service actually works out there. The DLM system was designed some years ago and it's far from perfect, BT Openreach realise this, which is why talks are ongoing with all providers (including Plusnet) on how we think the new design should work. DLM, at the moment doesn't give the best customer experience, but whilst we've got the current DLM in place, I've got to be realistic about what we can expect from a service level.
I get that what I do say, might not be what people want to hear, but I'm being very honest about how the system works. ADSL is an entirely different technology which has been around for many years now so I sometimes find it difficult to compare the two. The estimates can change all the time, that doesn't mean that your speeds will suddenly go down, it's just an estimate.
Whether the profile is 40M-80M or 37M-74M, it doesn't make any difference to your sync rate as your connection is syncing between either band so it won't have any effect on your service. If there is an external reason for the loss of your sync rate, which is most likely if nothing internally has changed, then unless your speeds drop significantly, there's not a lot that our suppliers will do. Realistically, the speeds you have and did have, there's a marginal difference and isn't going to affect your service.
Expectations are everything, there is an expectation that if you get 64Mb that this speed should stay, which is wrong, this isn't possible, ADSL and FTTC (a time when I can compare) are both 'Rate Adaptive' products, this means that speeds/rates/profiles can change and it usually does this due to line conditions, which do change. I'll write some documentation up as soon as I can to clarify my points, hopefully it will help.
