Re: Can i get an extra line?

You can't have broadband without a phone line and paying line rental! If you go through the online order it will tell you what it will cost if you click the I don't have a phone number link.

Re: Can i get an extra line?

Installation cast is about £49.99 for a new line

Re: Can i get an extra line?

Yep £50 is what I was quoted for a second line too, as long as Openreach don't have to dig up too many pavements....

Re: Can i get an extra line?

So i could order a new line instalation so that i have one line for the family at 6mbps. and my own line upstairs at 6mbps? and it would be 50 GPS installation fee and then just line rental +broadband cost?

Re: Can i get an extra line?

Yes, I believe so.
I think with Plusnet you'll need a separate account for the second line, but you might be able to take advantage of their offers.

Re: Can i get an extra line?

This is all correct, MickHowes1.
In essence, it would be a case of setting up a new account.

Re: Can i get an extra line?

Does the new line pairing up from the current master socket or the whole new master socket in different room?

It'll be a new master socket, that you can ask to have wherever you want

Yes but it mean BT have to dug up the hole from outside bt terminal box? I remember when I was at my parents house - my mum/dad have their own master socket in the hallway with their own telephone number but BT installed a second new line with new telephone number in my own bedroom as BT engineer pair it up from the same master socket in hallway. That's cause both lines lower speed in broadband.

Re: Can i get an extra line?

There's no way that we can really preempt what they would have to do in order to get the phone line active and working.
But out of interest, I went through the early stages of placing an order for a new line to MickHowes1's property and it reflected that there were multiple spare pairs, and line plant readily available.
In terms of the internal master socket, in my experience they seem to provide an additional secondary one.
EDIT: Additional standard socket, not master socket.

Re: Can i get an extra line?

So, if a person order second new line and active and working. Does this mean the first line will have FTTC speed decreasing or will remain unaffected?

Re: Can i get an extra line?

Theoretically, it should remain unaffected.

Re: Can i get an extra line?

One more question to ask are the new line install by a proper openreach engineer or will be kelly or other sub contractor provider?
