Can I get faster broadband?

This summer the roads were being dug up all round this village, and we were told it was BT laying internet cables. I am still on the old BT exchange here, have never heard any more about this,  and  wonder how I can find out if the new higher speed internet is active yet?

Go to https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome and enter your phone number.

This will display the type of services available to you and the expected speed ranges too.

For the record, VDSL means FTTC aka Plusnet Fibre and ADSL means well ADSL.

Ignore any line that starts "FTTP On Demand" as that product is very expensive and limited to a few business suppliers.

If you need any help with the results, post an image of the results here but edit out your phone number .

Then some one will be able to offer more advice.

I don't know how to post an image of it. It says VDSL is "planned". This is all I have available now.

WBC ADSL 2+
WBC ADSL 2+ annex M
ADSL Max

Downstream rate upto 15
Downstream Range 8 to 19.
ADSL Max downstream upto 8, Range 7 to 8.

Well that's your answer. Fibre is planned so you will just need to check up say once a month until it appears and says available to order.

You are currently on ADSL so nothing has changed yet.

Hi there.

Unfortunately as you've found out fibre isn't yet available for your line. 

From checking the Openreach site Here it looks like they're doing their final quality checks and estimate it'll be ready within a month.

Fingers crossed it comes soon!

Awesome, thanks all. Husband is going to be happy then -  (and so am I!) - he can watch his internet tv without the usual screaming and swearing.

If you'd like to try and find out more information about this it may be worth you filling out this formwize to query this with the fibre availability enquiries team at Openreach.
