Buffering ?

Just a quick one   i have FTTC on the 80/20 and i get about 70/16   but i still get buffering when i watch videos on Iplayer , utube , or web players , also TV catchup   any ideas why this happens its annoying

Also are you trying over a wired or wireless connection?

I'm very tempted to allude to David Tennant and his baseball bat - but that would be facetious.

This really is clutching at straws but what is your basic system memory and do you have discrete graphics card.
Also what is your virtual memory set at.
There is one other thing - try disabling your internet security package and trying an Iplayer HD stream.

If no change there, some wiresharking might be the thing.

@Jim PC specs below   i have 8 gig ram ddr3, & a ATI 7850  2 gig gfx card  so no problem there,, Virtual mem set by windows , win 7 64 bit , running firefox 14.01 , also tried waterfox .
security is MS essentials , and windows firewall . i also run C Cleaner once a week & malwarebytes 
may have to try a wireshark

How long exactly does the buffering last for? Can't be much more than a second or so can it? There's always a small amount of buffering before the video starts, it's the default with regard to Flash based video services.

sometimes it wont  buffer at all, as i would expect from my connection , even utube wont buffer at start but occasionally it like watching a slow motion film stop start , stop start , CNN news videos which  would have thought may have done it  they all run fine
I do tend to watch most videos in HD 
what i was trying to find out was , what was the cause ? the internet itself ? my connection ? or just a software issue ?

Well if it's stopping and starting in the middle then that would be data not coming through at a consistent rate with large enough gaps to cause buffering to kick in. Buffering is there to even out data flow, not just for slow connections.
