Broadband too slow

Hi.
I've just switched from talktalk....
Better the devil you know i think HuhHuh?

My new broadband speed is very slow. Much worse that TT. It's noticeable and if more than one people share it then it's more like dial up!!!
I have the same router and it hasn't moved so something isn't right. Not using plus router, sent it back as it's rubbish.
Next thing is my landline phone says 'external when a call comes in. Have I lost caller ID?
Thirdly....I was going to ask about this online chat but I was 35th in the queue... If the speed doesn't pick up then I need to consider going back to TT.
I only left for a change........ Can anyone from plusnet answer queries from here.?

Re: Broadband too slow

Your TT connection was likely an LLU one; local loop unbundled, ie not using Openreach infrastructure.

With PN, you'll be on the Openreach network which probably accounts for difference.

Did you check speed PN were offering you at your locality before switching?

You will be in what's called the training period and the system will seek what is

maximum speed your line can hold stable; it should improve once it's bedded in.

(Check your line's Openreach speed here;

http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ )

You need to go into Account and switch on & pay extra for Caller id.

It's not activated by default.

Re: Broadband too slow

Good god, you mean plusnet could be slower than talktalk that horrendously bad.
And pay for caller ID? I thought that was universal as water.

I better check how long the cooling off period is and leave fast back to talk.

Re: Broadband too slow

Just checked my speed - a miserable 8mbs. Been dreadful for days. I think too much choking/shaping traffic. Looks like I will be moving on.
