Broadband speed

Intenet connection is a little unstable tonight. I can hear the French and Spanish loud and clear around the AM 600mhz mark on my little radio.

I have completed a test at speedtester.bt.com, and it says my IP profile is 6.86 mbps. However, when looking at the Plusnet profile it says 6.1mbps. It has said this for some time. Is this something which can be overridden, or should I simply wait for it to update? If I have to wait, how long does it normally take?
Also, it is saying my upstream profile is 0.83mbps. I don't know what the Plusnet one is, but the upload speed recorded was 0.43 on the BT test.

Plusnet don't have an upstream profile

What could be causing the low upstream speed? My upstream sync is 755 at the moment.

Are you running the speed test connected wired or wireless to your router?

Hopefully someone can help me, I have had a ticket open since yesterday 5:45pm, but no reply as yet. Guess i'm expecting too much. Anyway, my router normally connected at around 7775kbps down, and 755kbps up. SNM is usually 6.0 up and 6.0 down during the day.
Yesterday evening I lost the connection for 45 minutes, the dsl light was flashing. When it came back, my speed was 4500 kbps down and 755kbps up. At the moment, the SNM is 6.0 up, and only 1.3 down.
Any ideas what could have caused this? I have already reported a fault.

Whether it is important or not, I do not know but I notice having connected to the router via telnet that the downstream output power is 0.0dbm. From memory, I seem to think this should be between 19.3, and 19.7dbm.

Are the technical support department open tomorrow? I guess they're not today as I have not heard anything yet.

The information in your opening post suggestions a fault has developed so reporting that was the right thing to do. I assume that is working its way through the system.
Downstream output power being reported as 0.0dBw is generally a router reporting problem simply meaning it is the maximum possible value, not something to be concerned about, but…
Plusnet departments should be available as normal tomorrow. Customer Services will be on the phones on Tuesday and Wednesday.

With a downstream sync of 7.7Mbps or so, to give that downstream profile, an upstream sync of only 755kbps indicates a problem.
That problem is probably also responsible for the low throughput for the 755kbps.  Lots of noise and lost packets would be my guess.
Please can you post the sync speeds down and up plus the attenuations and noise margins to go with them
Ideally - the error stats and uptime.

So my estimate of 7.7Mbps in your other thread, (I've only just found this one), was pretty close.  My actual calculation was 7777kbps.

Hi, I have posted the details requested below.
The uptime is 4 hours, 40 minutes and 10 seconds.
The Errored seconds, and severe errored seconds didn't reset when the internet disconnected. They were reset 8 hours and 21 minutes ago, when the router was turned off.
According to Routerstats, the internet has disconnected 5 times since 5:45pm. All down to SNM dropping to zero. When it connected at 3040kbps, it disconnected when it got to about 0.1db, but then reconnected at the same rate, with an SNM of 2db. It is of course plugged into the test socket, and I have tried three filters, two of which were unopened.
I have also attached a .jpg of the BT speed test screen once it had completed, for your information. As far as the difference in line profile is concerned, the reply I got from Plusnet technical support when I raised a ticket with them was that my router was at fault for it not being updated as it was providing their systems with misleading information. I'm afraid I don't know enough about how things work to know whether that is correct or not.

It will connect at well over 8mbps, but it isn't sustainable at night. 7775kbps should allow (all being well) about 5 - 6db margin in the day, and about 2-3db at night. Sometimes its a few hundred kbs lower, but I don't consider a drop of 3200 kbps an acceptable drop, and then to loose another 1300 kbps isn't acceptable in my opinion.
