Your DSL Connection Rate :7.07 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6 Mbps

These figures indicate that there is nothing wrong with the RAW synch speed between your router and the exchange, however the USABLE DATA speed is predicated on...
+ The capability of the Wi-Fi network and the impact of neighbouring Wi-Fi networks - see http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/wireless_broadband/wireless_signal.shtml - you can eliminate this factor in your testing by using a wired connection and ensure that you switch WiFi off on that device - just because there is a wired connection, does not mean it will be used by preference when you do the speed test if the WiFi is still enabled  Grin
+ Congestion at the exchange in BT equipment - this can be particularly prevalent during evenings when every man and their dog are on the internet - you can monitor this using TBB BQM plots - see http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,106312.0.html (note a fixed IP address is really useful for this, but it is not essential if you are prepared to keep on top of dynamic IP address changes.
+ Error rates on the line due to line noise or REIN - to examine that we need to see the detailed router stats - see http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,96155.0.html - line errors cause the errored data to be required to be retransmitted, thereby degrading the effective data speed
