Broadband speed absolutely dire

I'm new to Plus Net been here for about 3 weeks. Until yesterday 7 Sept everything was working well, but now my broadband speed is dire and barely registering on the speed checker. It is still as bad today. I hoped that it was a minor glitch but for 2 days now it has been like back to "dial up" speeds of 15 years ago. Can't quite understand why my upload speeds are 4 times my download ones. Previously with Talk Talk, Sky and BT no problems with broadband speeds with any of these. Any help greatly appreciated. Not terribly technically minded so please no technical jargon if at all possible.

Re: Broadband Speed absolutely dire. Upload Speed 864 kbps Download Speed 184 kbps

Well the last item is the reason
Current line speed: 0.2 Mb
It should have sorted itself automatically by now unless your line just resynched 90 minutes ago by itself and corrected the very slow downstream speed
Either way it should be picked up here but if it isn't a phone call asking for the Plusnet profile to be changed should fix it
However looking at the stats the default noise margin is shown as 12dB which tends to indicate a problem so I would raise a fault here https://faults.plus.net

Re: Broadband Speed absolutely dire. Upload Speed 864 kbps Download Speed 184 kbps

Hi lindap,
It seemed that you had a mismatch on your speed profile but this should now be resolved for you. If you can have another quick test you should see the speeds have improved although you may need to log into the router and hit disconnect, wait a couple of minutes and then hit connect to pick up the new speed.

Broadband speed absolutely dire. Upload speed 0.36mbps download speed 0.51mbps.

This is the 2nd time this has happened, the 1st time was on the 8/9/2014 and I posted here at 15.20 and it was resolved within 1 hour at 16.03. Why has it happened again the upload and download speed ratios being reversed?
(on: 08/09/2014, 15:20 on the 8/8/2014 at 15.20 I posted this:-
Help and Support / Broadband and Routers / Broadband Speed absolutely dire. Upload Speed 864 kbps Download Speed 184 kbps
It was resolved at 16.03.)
Please tell me why the same thing has happened again? Can you please look into this once again.

Re: Broadband speed absolutely dire. Upload speed 0.36mbps download speed 0.51mbps.

Hi lindap,
I suspect that the reason you've got a problem again is that last time the symptoms rather than the cause was fixed.  Last time you had a very low profile on the PlusNET systems, which was fixed without asking why it was low.
The stats you posted last time were low for your line length - you have not posted the current full DSL stats this time, could you please do so.
The symptoms you have this time do not match what you had before.
@Mods,
Is there merit in merging these threads please so that the full history can be seen in one place?

Could you try ONE disconnect/reconnect via the router interface (NOT a reboot of the router).

Re: Broadband speed absolutely dire. Upload speed 0.36mbps download speed 0.51mbps.

Jelv,
I like your thinking - PlusNET profile change without a PPP drop...
Then that would be very similar to the previous scenario.  Under some unidentified condition the line is synching up with a very poor synch speed and cascading a low profile delta to PlusNET.
If this action "fixes" the current symptoms, then the cause of intermittent slow synchs needs investigating.

Re: Broadband speed absolutely dire

Threads merged and title made more generic
Note my last two Plusnet profile changes weren't accompanied by a PPP drop so something isn't working right
