Broadband not working after activation date

I am having a bit of a nightmare when it comes to broadband. I moved to this new houseshare a month ago, they used to have FTC with EE but the previous tenant took the modem/internet with them. I signed up with PlusNet over two weeks ago but the earliest activation date was for today (07/07/25).

I received the email from Plustnet saying that my broadband is active at 6h30am, I woke up 7h30 and connected the modem to the socket - no internet, flashing orange light. I tried everything, no sucess. Called Plusnet, they made me go through lots of tests as well, but no sucess. Now I have been booked with an engineer for this friday, 5 days from today! What a nightmare. I work from home and have used all my phone data with hotspot because this is taking so long! any suggestions?

Re: Broadband not working after activation date

If previous customer "took broadband with them" the line may have been disconnected at the cabinet, these connections can only be made by Openreach, hence the delay. Plusnet puts in the request for service and we're all at the mercy of Openreach from then on. If their technician's previous job is delayed for any reason then your installation will be delayed too.

If you look through this forum you'll find hundreds of complaints about this. Sorry but that's the way it works. Plusnet will chase OR if you call them, it's not their fault, and five days isn't bad for an OR appointment. We hope that OR keeps it for you, otherwise call PN.

Re: Broadband not working after activation date

The PlusNet engineer came in today, spent 10 minutes checking and said this would have to be done virtually by openreach as the connection is not linked to my house. He said it would be fixed by tomorrow the latest.

I just called PlusNet to get a confirmation on this and surprinsily I will have to wait 5 more days until a open reach engineer comes in to check the cabinet. I wonder how long would have taken for them to let me know that another engineer would have to come in if I hadnt called them... this is taking way too long. In my previous flat when I signed up with Sky they booked an appt with open reach engineer on the activation date and everything went so smoothly.

What a nightmare.
