Hello
We have noticed our internet dropping out every now and then over the past 2/3 weeks. Is there anything that I or Plusnet staff could do to test our connection?
Nothing has changed on our end and as far as I'm aware the phone line isn't crackling.

That may not be classed as "frequent" but suggest you read this

Please post router stats.
Are you connecting via ethernet or wireless if the latter try via ethernet in case it is a wifi problem.
See if there are any changes going on at your exchange or even in your cabinet -eg is fibre new in your area
