Broadband contract ending - what happens when I am out of contract?

Hi everyone, sorry to ask what might seem like a stupid question but I have a broadband contract which will end in 2 months. I am selling the property and moving into what was my parents home which also has a contract with Plusnet, so I can't transfer it over. As I not expecting to own my old property for too long I don't really want to enter into a contract, even 12 months, but would like to continue to have broadband for the alarm & CCTV which are at that property. I wondered what happens when my contract ends, presumably Plusnet continue to provide a service but on an out of contract price, which no doubt is mega expensive? Any thoughts welcomed. I think the shortest contract Plusnet will agree is 12 months.
Many thanks
Gavin

That's absolutely correct. If you currently have a broadband and phone service e.g Unlimited Fibre or Unlimited Fibre Extra, then the out of contrcat price is probably close to double the contracted price. If you dont need the phone then you could possibly save some money as the out of contract price for Fibre 74 (broadband without phone) is probably considerably less.

Hi thank you for replying. I don't need a phone line but we are fibre to the cabinet, overhead copper to the house so we won't be able to get Fibre 74, but maybe there is a slower version. I cant see anything on the plusnet site about broadband prices out of contract, its all for 12 or 24 month packages. As I don't know when my house will be sold it may be cheaper to take out a 12 month contract and just pay the part I don't use, rather than pay as you go. It would be good to see their prices but they don't make them easy to find, or it could just be me!
Thanks again

You may not get a 12 month contract.
Your out of contract price should be shown in your Members page if you login to PN.
Try phoning the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 to see what they say.
If you use PN email address they go when you shut the account down.

You will, Fibre 74 (maybe its just called Fibre) is the rather badly named product that is actually Fibre to the cabinet without a phone service, and is provided over the existing copper line. Its an up to 74Mb product and the actual speed will be more or less the same as your existing FTTC. The product you're thinking of is Full Fibre 74 which involves a completely new fibre cable from the pole.

Look for the 'after minimum term' price for the contracted products.
I'd suggest giving Customer options a call to see what they can offer 0800 013 2632 ( select the thinking of leaving option )

Hi thanks, yes managed to find it next to my current package it say after end of contract £61.69/month. So at least I know their standard pay as you go rate. I'm paying £34 at the moment.
Thanks

Thank you again, good idea I'll give them a call, just wanted to be prepared, but at least I know what the out of contract price is and I'll see what they can do for me. Last year when I had just taken on my parents property, they did agreed to a 12 month contract and I can still see that as an option but I doubt they will do a shorter term.
Thanks
Gavin

If you look at your options to recontract, one will likely be shown as an 'upgrade' to Fibre (which is the broadband only). In addition to the contracted period and price it should show the out of contract price which MAY be less than your current out of contract price.
