Getting close to my 120gb usage limit for this month. Is it possible to bring forward my unused usage from last month to this month? I am not paying any more than what I already pay now. The price is very high compared to other companies who have unlimited. Would it be possible to slow down me speed if I go over, and not just cut the line until the new month starts?

You will be slowed down to 256kbps until the next billing month; you don't get cut off.

Hi Greg ,
If you have set your maximum monthly spend to £0 then you will be slowed down. If you haven't you'll get charged £5 per 5GB

Thanks, but why is the speed reduced so significantly? I could understand going from 6mbps to 256kbps, but 40mbps to 256kbps is a little steep 1mbps would be better for those on a higher, MORE EXPENSIVE package. I don't want to have to pay any more for a service that I already pay enough for in the first place

You've used your allowance so Plusnet would be justified in cutting you off until the next month. Instead they give you a very basic connection which allows you to do some essential tasks such as email, on-line banking etc (but very slowly).

Why do I get throttled between midnight and 8am though? I thought it was unlimited usage between those times, ie, not having to pay for it, ie max speed?

... because you've used your allowance the restriction is applied 24 hours a day. Seems fair to me.

On the old products you used to get 20GB but then they'd start throttling you back a bit at 12GB, then a bit more at 15GB, from 40Mb to 256K is heavy decelaration when it is instanteous.
It would be fairer if existing customer could build up a reserve for good behaviour, say allow them to carry overy 10% of their unused per month up to a maximum of 50%, then on those odd months you need the reserve it could be used.
How many of us with kids know that late July and August, will be bad time for our usage allowance. So another option would be allow a couple of months a year where you could have extra 25%.
Also £5 per 5Gb seems unfair when we can have 120Gb for £22 (25Gb for less £5), so a better rate for additional data would perhaps encourage people to spend some more money with Plustnet, rather than setting a hard stop and complaining about it.
Higher tiers above Extra, there a lot of people comenting about usage limits and the current products and its Plusnet don't react quicker. Zen, ADSL24 have all reacted to BT's changes, Plustnet (a BT owned company) hasn't.
I think Plustnet could find several solutions, eventually.
