Best way to get broadband fixed?

Hi,
We've been without broadband for about a week now.  DSL light sits there flashing all day.
Been through the on-line fault checker on the support pages, checked my connections and micro-filters....
Support Team messages just seem to bounce backwards and forwards between departments using lots of obscure acronyms, (EU, BOT BTW .....)
It would be nice if someone could just let me know what's going on (preferably in plain English) and when I can get the broadband access I pay for back.
Is there anything else I can do to find out what's going on?Huh
Thanks

Daz

Re: Best way to get broadband fixed?

Hi there,
I've just spoken to your wife regarding this and booked an engineer appointment for Weds 23rd between 0800 and 1300, as soon as that's taken place we'll have some more information for you.
Hope that helps, sorry for the hassle,

Hi Matt,
Thanks for the speedy response!
Let's hope it's something BT can sort out quickly.
Thanks again.

Re: Best way to get broadband fixed?

OK, BT have been and the line is all OK.
The engineer plugged his laptop & router into our micro-filter and he had broadband access - faster than he'd expected.
So, it looks like a faulty router.  DSL light still flashes when phone line is disconnected, which engineer seems to think also points to a faulty router.
The router is the BT Voyager 210 supplied by Plusnet when we signed up, so is still in its 12 month warranty period.
So what happens next? Can you send a replacement?
Thanks

Hi Darron,
I've just arranged for a replacement to be sent to you.  You should receive it in the next 2-3 working days.
Hope this does the job!

Re: Best way to get broadband fixed?

Hi,
Replacement router arrived this morning (excellent service!) - but no change I'm afraid.
DSL light just sits there flashing.
I have also managed to borrow a mate's router, that doesn't get a DSL sync either.
I'm starting to think the BT guy didn't check things properly.
Help!

Hi Darron,
Sorry to hear that it's still not working with a new router Sad
I've passed your fault back to BT with notes to let them know that the fault has not been fixed.

For 2d,
I'd like to know how come the engineer was able to get a connection and you weren't?

Darron,
Do you currently have your router plugged in and powered up so I can run some quick checks at this end?

He was getting on a bit and freely admitted to not knowing much about 'computers' ..... Roll_eyes
I was at work, so couldn't be sure what he did.

Router isn't on at the moment, I'll get my other half to power it up when she gets in and I'll post back here.
Thanks again for sticking with this!

Hi Daz1969,
I'm just curious as I've got the same problem as you - where abouts are you in the UK? I'm in Bournemouth

Interestingly, I'm not that far away in Romsey, Hampshire.
