Best Router for coverage

Well, ive tried to persevere with the Plusnet provided Fttc router untill now but its pointless trying to continue as i dont get coverage in half my house. What are peoples opinions on the best router for coverage, best value would be of benefit. Many thanks.

Re: Best Router for coverage

I have the Asus RT-N56U which is also an excellent dual band router. It's £30.00 cheaper than the 66, a great buy. Smiley

Re: Best Router for coverage

Cheers gents, I had considered both of those routers. Is the range on the N56U as good as the N66U?

I doubt if many people have both to do a real comparison.  Lips_are_sealed

Re: Best Router for coverage

Yes not sure but the 66u has external antennas where the 56u has internal

Re: Best Router for coverage

I get 5x5 from my RT-N56U through 2 floors & 3 walls & 3x5 at the bottom of my 100 foot garden. The other plus is that the router is a really good looking beast, particularly with the little blue lights flashing away.
It's also very easy to set up & the GUI is very straightforward & comprehensive. I've never had to refer to the manual. Firmware updates are virtually fully automatic. I just click on "check" next to the firmware version box & the Asus does the rest.  Smiley

Re: Best Router for coverage

Thanks tijara, sounds just what I need. At present I cant connect to the technicolour when im only two rooms away from it, so possibly being able to use the internet when sat on the patio sounds great!

Re: Best Router for coverage

That's why I bought the Asus Dai because I found the PN router to have very poor wireless. They even sent me a 2nd one to try & that was no better. I think that the 66 has more features but I didn't need them. My 56 has given me 8 months of trouble free operation.  Smiley
Good luck, hope it goes OK.

My pleasure Dai. Please let me know how it goes, by PM would be best to save cluttering up the forum.

Re: Best Router for coverage

i have the AC66U
i havent changed the factory default for the antenas so they are set at 80 out of a possible 200.
get fullsignal on 2.4mhz through 2 walls...well a ceiling then a wall.
only one dodgy spot in the house where the signal needs to go through 2 walls a set of stairs and another wall.
its a big house too
