Banded Line?

Hello all,

I've just replaced my router with a BT Hub 5 which received software updates on 1 September. I run Routerstats to check the SNRM and I noticed that on 2nd and 3rd of September the SNRM was a lot higher than normal and fluctuating wildly. I rebooted the router last night to see if this helped but it took several attempts before a clean connection was established. Since then the line has been stable and SNRM levels are around normal. Stats below:

5. DSL uptime: 0 days, 10:33:19
6. Data rate: 832 / 4480
7. Maximum data rate: 1024 / 4832
8. Noise margin: 11.0 / 7.1
9. Line attenuation: 31.5 / 50.3
10. Signal attenuation: 31.5 / 47.8
11. Data sent/received: 46.9 MB / 368.1 MB

PlusNet's line speed for my account is 4.2Mb.

However, when I run the BT test, I get these results:

BT test 2017_09_04.jpg

Now, normally when I run BT speedtest I get results something like:BT Test 2016_10_22.jpg

Note the difference in the max. achievable speed.

Now we have had a lot of problems with the line in the past but it's been okay recently (although Openreach are now doing work on the cab we're connected to so that we hopefully can get fibre - yah!).

However, with all the messing in the last two days, could the line have been banded?

Perhaps one of the kind PlusNet agents that monitor this forum (Gandalf ?) could check for me and reset if possible?

Thanks in advance

Re: Banded Line?

Fix

Hello there.

From testing your line we can see it's not banded.

Looking at the length of your line and the estimated speed, the current sync rate of 4480kbps is basically within expectations I'm afraid. The maximum achievable speed is showing at 7.15mbps as that's the maximum speed possible for your service.

Hopefully fibre is just round the corner *fingers crossed*

Re: Banded Line?

No problem, I wasn't expecting much else speed wise, just wanted to check that I could get the best possible and that nothing was restricting the line. Thanks.

No problems. Smiley let us know if we can be of further assistance.
