Re: Bad Upload Performance

I'm guessing it has begun, as my ping has been mid 40's all night (usually mid teens).
10 minutes ago my line cut out, internet went off for 30 seconds :(.
Could you swtich interleaving back off please Chris?
I'm going to borrow a router from a friend and see if it's that.
Cheers for your ongoing support.
PS - Been getting this every 10 minutes in CS:GO aswell, Sad

Hi,
Sure, I've just got that order placed for you. It'll take around 24 hours to take effect.

Re: Bad Upload Performance

Hi Chris.. I'm very fed up with all this.
Should I just bite the bullet and get a Billion 7800N, do you think this would solve my problems (I wont hold you to it :P)
Thanks

Re: Bad Upload Performance

Hi,
Before you do that, let me give you a ring at some point tomorrow and I'll give the best advice I can. Does that sound like a plan?

Re: Bad Upload Performance

Sounds like a good plan.
Will it be okay to ring me in the evening?
I get home from work at about 6:30.

Re: Bad Upload Performance

Morning Chris,
BT Engineer has just left and there was a problem with the wiring in my house which has now been sorted.
Many thanks for sorting that out, and saving me £95 in the process!
My router is now syncing at 19007 Kbps download, and 1139 Kbps upload which is a nice improvement from before.
My profile with you is still set at 16.2 Mb, could you please update bump/update it?
Many thanks for your support, and a big thanks to everyone in this great forum.
I am amazed by the level of customer service. Brilliant.

Re: Bad Upload Performance

Hey there,
Pleased to hear this sorted you out Cheesy
I've bumped up your speed profile to match your sync. Saves you waiting till Monday/Tuesday when DCT are back in Smiley
Enjoy the rest of your day, and your new found speeds Cheesy

Matt

Re: Bad Upload Performance

Hi Matt,
Cheers for doing that so quickly! I just did a speedtest and I'm still sitting at 15Mbps? Will it take a little while to kick in?

Also, incase it's of any relevance:

What's the reason behind my attainable rate being 22132 Kbps and my actual rate being 19007 Kbps? (I'm not complaining, just interested)
Thanks again.

Re: Bad Upload Performance

Not to sure about the nitty gritty details I'm afraid, so can't comment on that.
But, the speed profile change usually takes 20-30 minutes to go through, you'll notice a PPP/Sync drop, when it comes back up, the new speed will be applied Smiley

Matt

Re: Bad Upload Performance

Just did another test:

Still not 19Mbps. However, I will wait a few days as the BT Engineer said my line is back in 'training' so maybe it will go up over the next few days.
Cheers

Just had a look  for you and the "Administrative" reset has been completed, so running on the new connection profile. Lets see what happens with the "training" period

Re: Bad Upload Performance

I hope you are not expecting to get 19 Mbps on a speed test. The IP Profile reported by the BT diagnostic test will be 88.2% of your sync speed and the Plusnet Current line Speed should match that (rounded down to the nearest 100). On a speed test 95% of that would be about right, so with your current sync speed of 19007 your speed test is not far off.
It's worth remembering that the harder you push the line the more errors will occur; errors mean retransmits which reduces the actual speeds you get. Given the choice of a good speed on a stable line with few errors or excellent speeds on an unstable line with many errors I'd choose the former every time. I'm hoping to get a stable line with a 6000 IP profile which is more than adequate for HD streaming (I'm not far off that if they could just stop it dropping on an incoming phone call).
