BTW Speedtester Accuracy?

A couple of weeks ago I had a fault on my line. Noisy and with repeated drop outs. The nice man from BTOR fixed it and I can now make phone calls and connect to the internet.

The only fly in the oinntment however is that the BTW speed testers (IP profile 8 approx) is showing download speeds in the region of 3 to 4 Mbs when previously I was getting 8. Naturally I have done every possible variation of connection and equipment to no avail.

Recently the Spedtester contains a warning that Flash  might slow Firefox. I don't recall seeing this before. Could that be part of the problem.

Sync Speed (Netgear DGN2200) is 9680/1027

My ticket is still open but I am not optimistic.

Any suggestion?!

Hi , this has been asked before for some reason Firefox gives odd readings on BTW test , after posting on Firefox forum it looks likely that flash is to blame .
One poster ask me to tell BT to move to html tester , yes as if they will listen

Thanks for that. It seems comparatively recent and of course PN recommend BTW tester!

They recommend the BTW speed test as it stores your test results 👍
Even as I have Firefox as default browser I now use Edge only for the BTW test 😉
