BT home hub 5 disconnects internet

Hi all
Had my home hub 5 now for a few weeks , day after i fitted it ...i had it reboot ....but this happened on the saturday we had the bad storms ( 2 weeks back) ...so put it down to the lightning etc .
Well had it reboot a few times over next  week but since then its been fine ...but have noticed it has lost internet quite a few times in the event logs .
Just happened again this afternoon ...was in conservatory on pc ....when it started to rain so shut down pc , went into living room and hh5 was flashing orange ....took a few minutes to reconnect ....i have seen it do this a few times now but usually connect within a minute ....and a couple of times i have noticed it does this when it chucks it down with rain .
I have heard that there is an issue with these hh5's mysteriously disconnecting ...but no know fix at mo ...but seems funny how  a few times its been raining when happens
Also when BT man come to fit openreach modem he said we were coming up with a fault ...i said i have no idea if we have a fault as phone and internet were working before he arrived ....he did not say anything else about it .
Here is the event log -

Re: BT home hub 5 disconnects internet

Have a look here
Seems to be a common issue with the latest f/w.

Re: BT home hub 5 disconnects internet

Hi
Thats what i read earlier ...but just seems weird how this happens when raining ...if happens again when raining then guessing issue with line ...if does it when its dry then prob the firmware that maybe at fault ....hopefully new firmware will fix this .
Is this only since the latested update ? as mine updated itself the first night to the latest .
Cheers

Re: BT home hub 5 disconnects internet

It could be a combo. You could try raising a fault call with PN.

Re: BT home hub 5 disconnects internet

well best to keep a log of rain fall and times it goes down ...hope its a line fault  or firmware issue as dont want to get rid of the 1 box and have 2 !! lol
Is there any other good single box option ? heard asus do one ?

Re: BT home hub 5 disconnects internet

I'm still on the firmware released just before Christmas.
There was an incident on the hub the other week, where it restarted a few times.  I phoned BT up and they issued me a new hub, the old hub 5 was is still working so i've kept the other one as a spare.  Roll_eyes
The WiFi has been flaky but there has been scaffolding around the house, so thats probably the cause.
Hope the people on the forum have been okay, since i've not been on recently.

Re: BT home hub 5 disconnects internet

It disconnected again last night at 11.15pm…
If I connect the openreach modem to hh5 and use homehub as router only ,can I still get event logs to see if internet has disconnected like on homehub ? Or do I need it to be unlocked?
Just trying to find out if its line issue or hh5

Re: BT home hub 5 disconnects internet

Today i have unlocked my openreach modem and connected it to my hh5 ...so now hh5 acts as router only ....i can now see if its a line issue or hh5 issue ...so far no disconnects .
Im guessing the issue is with the firmware on the homehub 5 ....hopefully update will come soon if BT are looking into this issue ...then can remove openrreach modem
