BT have sorted my wiring - can my BRAS profile be increased.

Until last year I had a bombproof 8mb/s connection. Then I started getting speed problems, and noise on the phone line. The intermittent nature of the fault means it has taken until now to get BT Out to fix the line.
A very nice man has just been, and re-wired the junction box at entry to the house, and fitted a new Openreach master socket for me. I fully expect this will give me back my stable connection.
1 - Can plusnet now reset my target SNR, (I am currently connected at 8128 with 15.6db noise margin
2 - Can plusnet now reset my BRAS profile so it can go back to max.
3 - Am I correctly informed that the new openreach master socket has the I-Plate functionality built in?

Thanks.

Re: BT have sorted my wiring - can my BRAS profile be increased.

8128 is the maximum you can synch at, so nothing to do there Smiley
Your BRAS will raise itself on the BT side, you need to check what speedtester.bt.com says.

Re: BT have sorted my wiring - can my BRAS profile be increased.

BT Speetester says:
Quote
Download speedachieved during the test was - 4533 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps

My broadband speed (Plusnet speed profile) is 5500 - so it looks like plusnet need to catch up with BT.

Re: BT have sorted my wiring - can my BRAS profile be increased.

Looks like it's all going well - it can take the automatic Plusnet system up to 12 hours to catch up with IP Profile changes.
I'm just a touch surprised at a speed of 4533 when the portal is set to 5500 as it's a little bit lower than I would have expected. Are you connected wired or wireless to the router? Have you optimised your MTU and RWIN settings?

Re: BT have sorted my wiring - can my BRAS profile be increased.

My experience is it takes much longer than 12 hours for plusnet to catch up.

Re: BT have sorted my wiring - can my BRAS profile be increased.

Your profile on our side increased over the weekend, so it's up to date now.
Don't worry about the SNR, that's just high because your line is good quality, as your syncing at 8128 it's not causing any issues.

Thanks - all is looking good.
I may try my old router again now. When all the problems started, I put it down to that, and got a new one.
