I have rerad recently that it is not thought good practice if routers are switched off when not in use. It is stated that they can be damaged if so. Is the BT machine subject to this effect? So far I have fed mine with the same mains sdupply as all my computer eqpt which is all off when not in use. No problem or is it waitying to happen?

Realistically, if you're rebooting a router a lot, I'd imagine the power supply could go.
Shouldn't really be a problem, but you never really do know.

Then again the constant supply of current will wear components out too. I have the same router I have for years now and only the mains transformer died which was replaced and so far...
Make sure you have an anti-surge device connected to your electronic equipment (esp. Sky boxes for info).
