Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

I thought the system was that you and BT could access the results of the tests and surely there is a date stamp on them

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

Bob, As people tend to take screen shots or copy/paste the entire text, have you suggested to BT that they add the date/time to the results display?

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

Tried again at around midday with the following results, along with these basic router stats. Usually get nearer 6500 download speed so assume traffic is heavy for some reason or other.
Upstream profile looks OK today but last time I tried it was given as 448, which was silly 'cos actual upload speed was much faster.
PS Line speed according to PlusNet has gone up from 7150 (when I last did the test) to 8000, as sync was faster when I rebooted the router.

Date of test: 21.09.2010
Time of test: 12.00 noon approx
Plusnet user since November 2003
Full Fibre since September 2023
Mac OS14 and Firefox user with latest versions of both

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

I've somehow(?) managed to persuade the speedtester that Test1 comprises 3 tests Roll_eyes
They wouldn't fit on one screenshot because my screen isn't big enough, so here it is, in two bits.
It's rubbish though.

What you need is screengrab! which allows you to take a screen shot of the entire page (see attached sample).

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

Speedtester result attached. It shows several inconstencies- DSL connection speeds of 1636Kbps down-stream and 636Kbps up-stream are both wrong, on lower bar graph upload speed achieved greater than max achievable speed. Test at 15:30 21 Sept.
Using Plusnet speed tester at about 15:37 gave 10368kbs down and 706kbs up which is typical for me.

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

What's the big picture on this? Do the BT speedtester problems affect all ISPs who use 21CN? I would assume so, but I haven't seen anything about any other ISPs (I may just have been looking in the wrong places.)

Re: BT Speedtester - is it broken?

Test at 16:23 today. Getting slightly better - downstream IP profile of 7150 looks right! and matches Plusnet's Everything else looks wrong except maybe upstream throughput. (Router currently reports sync speeds as 8279 / 800. MyBroadbandSpeed reports throughput as 6587 / 681).

Hi grahamt,
I imagine it will affect anyone on BT's 21CN There's a thread here about it too.
