BT-OR engineer left hours ago. Still at 10Mbps. Was hoping for more.

Got connected to fibre broadband this afternoon. Did an initial speed test at about 10Mbps. Just done another and it's still the same.
Am I being a bit optimistic and impatient to expect faster speeds so early on? Or is there a problem?

If you moved from an ADSL package on Plusnet, the profile on Plusnet's systems might still be set to your old speed.
Compare the IP profile from the BTW Performance Test here:

I've run the BTW test, and got this result:
1. Best Effort Test:
Download Speed : 6.02 Mbps
2. Upstream Test:
Upload Speed : 5.32 Mbps
Your speed test has completed and the results are shown above, however during the test an error occurred while trying to retrieve additional details regarding your service. As a result we are unable to determine if the speed you received during the test is acceptable for your service. Please re-run the test if you require this additional information.
I ran the test again and got the same result.
This is the Plusnet profile:
Estimated line speed:
58Mb (Accurate to within +/- 1Mbit) - Checked on 2012-12-06 17:20:38
Current line speed:
11.7 Mb

CX you were right. I called Plusnet this afternoon, to find I was still on the ADSL profile. Now on fibre profile- 65Mbps!
