BT Infinity has landed...

I've just received an email from BT telling me that BT Infinity "has just landed in your area!"  which conjures up a rather improbable picture.  But be that as it may, apparently if I switch to their premium package I can expect speeds in the area of 62.3 Mb download/20.0Mb upload - or at least that's their estimate.
Now my question, with apologies for its naivety, is this: if the technical capability to achieve such a massive increase in speed now exists locally, is it only with a BT package that I can take advantage of it?  Or will other ISPs, including PlusNet, now also be able to offer me an improved service?
Many thanks.

Re: BT Infinity has landed...

There's no need to migrate to BT to get fibre broadband. You'll find lots of posts about Plusnet fibre broadband on this board.
Plusnet's fibre products pages are linked from their website front page to http://www.plus.net/fibre-broadband/ for fibre-broadband and phone and http://www.plus.net/fibre-broadband/broadband/ for fibre broadband alone.
Note that there is a set up fee if phone is not included (or already with Plusnet).

Re: BT Infinity has landed...

Hehe I ordered the DAY my exchange went to Accepting Orders, I haven't had an email from PN or BT offering me fiber yet - but I am due to get it installed on Tuesday AM  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Wink
PS Getting the PN Extra fibre offering, was going to go with BT but I can't afford the extra ££ for the phone as well if I transferred.
