BT Engineer just been. Problem worse if anything?

Hi,
Due to me getting stupidly low speeds at evenings i was told an engineer needed to visit the property.
BT engineer came out today and advised that the original BT engineer bodged the install as it was done stupidly. Hes done it right now but the speed has dropped even more. I was told 47mb down on order, got low 30's and told to just accept it now its mid 20's if im lucky. Why am I on a 26mb profile when I was getting mid 30's, even with the evening speed drops?

Hi Matt,
Unfortunately we can't test your circuit right now because of the engineer visit (I know this sounds daft).
It may be a case of you needing to give it a bit of time, but we should be able to test your line either later on today or tomorrow morning.
