Re: BT Broadband Accelerator socket Free*

Only will improve line speed if there are extensions, so does it only filter the bell wire? Cheaper just to the remove bell wire.

Where did you work for BT as an engineer?  You seem to think you know more than them?
Please read the page in full it tells you to fit it to the master socket if BT could make a call out for a broadband fix they would charge the customer £120 then just remove the orange wire and then they could afford the final salary pension scheme.
If the new socket just filtered the orange wire why would BT say it stabilise a broadband connection if you have the new openreach master socket
I belive them not YOU

Re: BT Broadband Accelerator socket Free*

Yes have spent many a year installing telephone exchanges but did not work for BT. For information BT did/do not install their own exchanges.

Re: BT Broadband Accelerator socket Free*

a simple search in a number of places will tell you it does more that just disconnect the bell wire. but the bell wire disconnection is for most people the part of the -plate that will have the largest affect.

click on I have no extensions which gives this response

Sorry, the BT Broadband Accelerator won't increase your speed as you don't have any phone extension wiring that could be interfering with your broadband connection.

Re: BT Broadband Accelerator socket Free*

The full quote on a BT openreach master socket says
Your current phone socket already filters interference. However, the BT Broadband Accelerator may help your speed even if it doesn't increase it.
If you dont have any other sockets BT say as you said wont help but for the rest of us a spend of £1.20 might help increase speed.  Most complaints to Plusnet are low download speeds
£1.20 for fix I would go for it as my first port of call then call out BT

Re: BT Broadband Accelerator socket Free*

What @Oldjim posted is why I made my original statement. From this it can be surmized that no filtering is done on the a/b pair because if there were it should improve the line irrespective whether there are extensions or not. So the only filtering is the bell wire.

Re: BT Broadband Accelerator socket Free*

My BT exchange is a cross the road from me and I already had removed my bell wire since day 1 when I moved in but I suffer less disconnections and less errors.
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 4.0 / 3.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 20.0 / 14.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ALCB
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 1 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 1
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0
All my BT internal extension had been carried out by BT but £1.20 for a BT i-plate seems very good value to me to see if works if not stick it back on ebay.
