BRAS = the opposite of fuel prices

Sad OK, I know it isn't JUST the sync speed that controls the BRAS setting, but the other week, I had moved my router and connection speed dropped.  I think it was too close to the TV.  BRAS dropped to 5600.
I moved it again, stats below
Quote
SNR Margin 3.6 8.5
Data Rate    7094 888

Yet for weeks now the BRAS remains at 5600 - so the exact opposite of petrol prices - quick to drop, but slow to rise.
Anything I can do about this?

BRAS?
I'm presuming the BT speed test says around 6256, and that you are talking about the current line speed shown on the portal. If so ring up and ask for it to be corrected.

Yeah it does drop quickly in bras profile but it take 3 days to rise again. That's BT for us.

Re: BRAS = the opposite of fuel prices

As the OP is on 21CN the IP profile goes up and down immediately without any delay

Re: BRAS = the opposite of fuel prices

The upstream sync indicates he is on 21CN so the BT changes are instant. I'm afraid your post is wrong!
Edit: Jim beat me to it

Re: BRAS = the opposite of fuel prices

Jim, this is correct that all 21CN up and down bras will be immediately without any delay but plusnet bras won't be changing until after 72 hours (suppose to be every 12 hours but it never work) The upstream bras changing instant on both side BT and Plusnet. But the downstream bras are instant by BT side but not plusnet side (because BT bras updated on their system passing onto plusnet in 72 hours delay)

Re: BRAS = the opposite of fuel prices

Plusnet don't have an upstream profile so they don't have to change anything

Re: BRAS = the opposite of fuel prices

I just wish plusnet don't have downstream profile so they don't have to change anything but these might change in future (hope so) so we don't have to wait for up to 72 hours (suppose to be every 12 hours but it doesn't work had to kept asking the staff to adjusted the profile)

Re: BRAS = the opposite of fuel prices

Ta for all that - maybe I got the terminology wrong - the value that doesn't move up for me is the one shown in https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed
That one seems stuck, for me, at 5.4, for the last couple of weeks, despite my sync speed being around the 7000 mark - surely I should see something more around the 6 mark?
Cheers

Re: BRAS = the opposite of fuel prices

It should be 6200kbps by my calculation.
Call Plusnet tech support and ask them to adjust it manually for you.

Still thinking about what's the difference between bras and fuel prices.

Hi eserim,
I've upped your profile to 6200 to match the one on BTs side, hope that helps.
