BBYW Option 1 - Set A Broadband Price Limit (Was Data Transfer Watch)

There appears to be an error on the Portal. On BBYW, when you reach your maximum allowance, your speed gets clamped to 128Kbps but your access is uninterrupted.
The Portal now says:
You've successfully set your Maximum Broadband Price
Maximum Broadband Price (per month): £9.75
Providing a total usage of 2GB this month.
That amount not right? Change your amount
How your Maximum Broadband Price is applied
If your broadband charges (subscription plus additional usage) reach your Maximum Broadband Price, you'll be disconnected from the Internet. You can either wait until your next bill, or increase your Maximum Broadband Price, to immediately benefit from additional usage.
Adding more usage if you've reached your Maximum Broadband Price
Although you'll not be able to connect to the Internet, you'll still be able to access our website to increase your Maximum Broadband Price. You'll need to restart your broadband hardware to reconnect.

This is WRONG

In what way? Are you supposed to be able to have post pay usage added?

Title
"BBYW Option 1 "
What wheel_nut says is supposed to happen:
"On BBYW, when you reach your maximum allowance, your speed gets clamped to 128Kbps but your access is uninterrupted."
What the message says will happen
"Although you'll not be able to connect to the Internet, you'll still be able to access our website to increase your Maximum Broadband Price. "

I'll get this raised to the web team now.

Thanks Matt.
Could you confirm that this is just a Portal error and that the product actually works as originally specified.

Yep - the notification is wrong. When you hit the price cap your connection is slowed to 128k but you can carry on surfing.
There's a problem with the web team now to get that changed.

In a slight contradiction to the above, see this post.

Hi Bob,
MY BRAIN HURTS  Huh This discussion started so long ago that I have lost the thread of it.
Could you describe what currently happens for:
a) Legacy PayG
b) Legacy BBYW -1,2,3 and Pro
c) Current Products - Value and Premium
and then describe how it will work when you have fixed the problems.

Re: BBYW Option 1 - Set A Broadband Price Limit (Was Data Transfer Watch)

Hi Smiley
a) Legacy PAYG customers should have extra usage added until they hit the value set by DTW (or £99.99). The customer should then be redirected to the portal page to increase DTW *or* be blocked until the next billing date.
b) The behaviour would depend on whether the customer is fixed or flexed. In fixed all traffic would be restricted to 128kbps once the limit was reached. In flexed mode extra usage would be added until they hit the value set by DTW (or £99.99). The customer should then be redirected to the portal page to increase DTW *or* be blocked until the next billing date.

As Bob says we have an issue with the redirect at the moment, which we're working on.

Re: BBYW Option 1 - Set A Broadband Price Limit (Was Data Transfer Watch)

Hi Mand and thank you for the very explicit clarification.
Now, I understand it but can't say that I like it. I would prefer that the behaviour was that the rate was clamped to 128kbps once the limit was reached whether that limit was set by the Product or by DTW.
..... pretty please  Huh

That's one of the options we're currently looking at.
