Hi All is there one speed checker that is the best to use for our BB only for some reason I get such differing results
For instance
http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk I get approx 22Mb/s d/l and 3Mb/s u/l
http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html I Get approx 63Mbps d/l and 18Mbps u/l
http://www.speedtest.net/?test=2 I Get approx 72Mbps d/l and 18Mbps u/l
And I have checked this over the last week with much the same outcome apart from one day I was getting down to as low as 13Mb/s on the broadbandspeedchecker one for just over a day that I did the tests in. And why is there such a gap between them. And is there a difference between Mb/s and Mbps or are they the same as I think they are?
Thanks Os

There is also the BTw Performance test (ignore the red preamble except make sure no other programs are using the Internet) and at the end of the first run, click the Further Diagnostics button, enter just your Phone number and Run the Further Diagnostics Test. You will be required to run this test when reporting faults.
All speedtesters will give some erroneous results at peak times due to heavy usage of the tester, so repeat testing is something you should do and not rely on a single result. The first one on your list I don't think is as reliable on Fibre for some reason. The Thinkbroadband one has an excellent reputation and provides good diagnostic results. Speedtest.net is usually good. All require Flash.
It sounds as though there's a possibility you may have a congestion issue. Have a read of http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,130416.0.html for some tips and advice and then post back here with some more detail if you are still suffering slowdowns.

You can also get erroneous results from using a flash based speed tester, particularly if your PC CPU or memory usage are high when starting the test.
Another way of testing the speeds, is to download a test file and see how long it takes/the download speed - http://www.thinkbroadband.com/download.html
As Anotherone said, speedtest.net is usually good and quite consistent. The BTW tester is usually accurate on the download, but the upload/ping can be erroneous.

And the ping times on the BTw speedtester depend on which way the wind is blowing
Edit: btw the link to the TBB checker in the OP is wrong, it should be http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html
