Average d/l speed 2.9mbps FTTC is this about right?

Hi there, recently had FTTC installed and fairly happy with it all so far, having run a few speed tests and downloads i have seen an average download speed usable of around 2.9-3.1 megabytes per second, is this about right for the up to 76mbps FTTC package? We are located about 250m away from our green cabinet.
thanks

2.9-3.1 megabytes per second (MB/s) is about 24 megabits per second (Mb/s), this does seem rather slow for FTTC if you're only 250m from your cabinet.
What speed does this tester give: http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ ; please also select 'further diagnostics' and check what it gives as your IP profile.

Everything looks good except for the originally posted 2.9-3.1 MB/s download, where did these figure come from?
I usually find that the thinkbroadband speed test gives an honest report. http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html

thats the site i've just come across and am getting similar results to what p/net say i should be getting, the figures were based on averages for downloads of various files, come to think of it the downloads could of had a speed restriction on them. i also used speedtest.net
