Attenuation and line sync speed

Hi,

We recently had our Plusnet broadband line installed and are getting lower line sync speeds than expected, especially given the attenuation readings.

I rang the support line to check if everything was set up correctly and they reset the line. As far as I can tell this resulted in interleaving being enabled and the downstream sync speed increasing slightly, but no other significant changes.

The stats from the modem are as follows (note that I'm pretty sure some of these are mislabelled, it looks like the FECS values are the raw FEC counters for example):

ATU-C Vendor ID: Texas Instruments 5.16
ATU-C System Vendor ID: Texas Instruments 0.81
Chipset: Ifx-AR9 1.2

Noise Margin (SNR): Down: 5.4dB / Up: 5.7dB
Aggregate Transmit Power (ACTATP): Down: 20.4dB / Up: 12.8dB
Max. Attainable Data Rate (ATTNDR): Down: 9.248 Mb/s / Up: 22.216 Mb/s

Line Uptime: 2d 2h 36m 37s

From what I can tell we should be getting higher downstream sync speeds with attenuation numbers like these. Before I go back to support, could someone confirm if this is indeed the case or if this just the best the line can deliver?

Thanks!

Re: Attenuation and line sync speed

Thanks. Our tests aren't showing any issues but we'd recommend raising this at https://faults.plus.net so our Faults team can take a further look.
