Just a general broadband techie question before I think of raising it with PN in the BB forum..
Our upstream is

This obviously varies from day to day but I was wondering if its possible to get a faster upload speed somehow without major hardware changes and expense? - EG is there some magic settings that can be tinkered with at the ISP or home users end?

Raise a ticket asking for the upload to be uncapped

Just be aware uncapping the upload speed can lower your download speed and trigger connections issues.  Every time I have had a unwanted uncapping, my connection has become unstable.

What causes that then? Is it just the sheer amount of data going both ways?
Reason I'm asking is that I may need to start sending large amounts of data to an external server soon and I'm just wondering if our normal BB connection would in theory be able to handle it?

This happens very rarely - it happened to me - and the change can be reversed very easily if it does
The problem is usually down to pushing the noise margin on upstream to 6dB can cause instability which is seen by the downstream DLM which can then increase the downstream noise margin
It is still worth a try
