Are Plusnet blocking some news and media sites

I can't open any media or news websites.   For instance, if I try to open the Guardian's site the page just hangs there with "waiting for static.guim.co.uk" displayed.  This happens on nearly all the websites of newspapers.  It looks like something is aggressively blocking the content delivery systems.

Well I can't.  Everything else is working fine, it's just that no news sites will open.

What results do you get if you trace to the sites? Can't see any issues here that would be causing it.

Which browser are you using and are you using an ad blocking software or security package
According to Adblock Plus it is one of the blockable items

Have you checked firewalls, anti-virus software to make sure they aren't blocking the sites?
Might be worth a single reboot of the router to see if that clears the issues.

No firewall, no anti-virus and ad-block plus switched off and they still won't open.  That's in Firefox, Chrome, IE and Safari.

no trouble at all with the guardian and now that he has been named in parliament this is on the guardian front page
