You *are* provided on the 80/20 service.

Yes i'm fully aware i'm paying for 80/20 and getting just over a third of that due to constraints in the local network "DISTANCE" wise.
It's only taken me 3 months worth of testing and messing about with the silly router you provide to make my connection stable enough to use.
So please forgive me for being slightly hacked off wont you.
Cheers Chris

Obviously I won't insult your intelligence by pointing out it's "up to" 80/20 and very dependent on a heck of a lot of conditions.
My next door neighbours FTTC supports a maximum connection of 25-30Mb/s (she's with TalkTalk) whereas mine managed a nice solid 70Mb/s
I was told I'd get 50Mb/s and was expecting to get 25-30 Mb/s like my neighbour but was nicely surprised when I got the better speed. I'd have still had to pay for the 80/20 package even if I did "only" get the 25Mb/s
Mind you - anything was better than the 5.5Mb speed I was getting before due to the distance from the exchange.

I'll go take a look at the fault ticket and see what the next steps are.

Its one of those decisions to make if your line is unlikely to support higher than 40/10. Do you drop down to save some cash?

Quote from: 30FTTC06 @picbits most people up my rd are on cable http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/speedtest/streetstats/ the fatest i see is 95mb
But mostly 30mb
That would say to me that you may have some cabled areas from Virgin Media or similar and the 95Mb downloads *may* be coming from there (I've seen FTTC peak at >80Mb/s but 95Mb is a bit of a jump). If the majority of customers are getting around the 30Mb mark then you may well find you don't have a problem and this is what is on offer.
I could be totally wrong though and you may genuinely have an issue - if you are friendly with the neighbours have a word with them. Otherwise possibly pop a polite note through a few doors near your house explaining the situation and asking if they would mind letting you know if they are any faster and who they are with.

Btw I just tried that uswitch speed test and it really can obscure the results.
E.g. For my postcode it is a sea of 30mbs (virgin media) with a tiny island hitting double. That was me lol. I guess I am one of the first to go fibre in my street then and so virgin will no doubt be flyering out street shortly with a we can now offer "free" upgrades from 30mb to 60mb lol

That's looking much better. I've just matched the profile on our side to the BT one, so if you log in to the router and do a disconnect/reconnect you should start to see the higher speeds coming through.
