Re: Any Update plusnet #69374863

I can see that your estimate was around 38Mb and your line is performing under that at the moment. We'll do what we can to get your line as fast as possible but sometimes lines do perform lower than the estimate unfortunately.
You *are* provided on the 80/20 service.

Re: Any Update plusnet #69374863

I'm sure you'll do me proud! Maybe in another few years.
Yes i'm fully aware i'm paying for 80/20 and getting just over a third of that due to constraints in the local network "DISTANCE" wise.
It's only taken me 3 months worth of testing and messing about with the silly router you provide to make my connection stable enough to use.
So please forgive me for being slightly hacked off wont you.
Cheers Chris

Re: Any Update plusnet #69374863

Out of curiousity, do you have any neighbours on FTTC who can let you know what speeds they are getting.
Obviously I won't insult your intelligence by pointing out it's "up to" 80/20 and very dependent on a heck of a lot of conditions.
My next door neighbours FTTC supports a maximum connection of 25-30Mb/s (she's with TalkTalk) whereas mine managed a nice solid 70Mb/s
I was told I'd get 50Mb/s and was expecting to get 25-30 Mb/s like my neighbour but was nicely surprised when I got the better speed. I'd have still had to pay for the 80/20 package even if I did "only" get the 25Mb/s
Mind you - anything was better than the 5.5Mb speed I was getting before due to the distance from the exchange.

Re: Any Update plusnet #69374863

Whilst I understand that you're frustrated at getting a speed lower than the estimate, it's not as simple as 'paying for 80/20' the Unlimited account doesn't have a bandwidth cap on, which is the main reason it's more expensive than the Essentials one (40GB usage).
I'll go take a look at the fault ticket and see what the next steps are.

Re: Any Update plusnet #69374863

Indeed. Its nice to actually see an unlimited package that is potentially full speed given the right line conditions. Elsewhere they tend to trade unlimited data for throttled connection.
Its one of those decisions to make if your line is unlikely to support higher than 40/10. Do you drop down to save some cash?

Hi there,
Thanks for your time on the phone, as discussed your engineer is booked in for the 16th May 8am - 1pm. Let me know how you get on.

That would say to me that you may have some cabled areas from Virgin Media or similar and the 95Mb downloads *may* be coming from there (I've seen FTTC peak at >80Mb/s but 95Mb is a bit of a jump). If the majority of customers are getting around the 30Mb mark then you may well find you don't have a problem and this is what is on offer.
I could be totally wrong though and you may genuinely have an issue - if you are friendly with the neighbours have a word with them. Otherwise possibly pop a polite note through a few doors near your house explaining the situation and asking if they would mind letting you know if they are any faster and who they are with.

Re: Any Update plusnet #69374863

Well i hope the OR engineer sorts you out as its not the norm to be under the estimate. Mine was but that was down to not having a vdsl2 filter fitted by the first engineer so lets hope yours is down to some sort of install issue Smiley
Btw I just tried that uswitch speed test and it really can obscure the results.
E.g. For my postcode it is a sea of 30mbs (virgin media) with a tiny island hitting double. That was me lol. I guess I am one of the first to go fibre in my street then and so virgin will no doubt be flyering out street shortly with a we can now offer "free" upgrades from 30mb to 60mb lol

Re: Any Update plusnet #69374863

@Chris The OR  guy just left after removing some star wiring which was disconnected inside but still attatched outside in the grey box on install. My line jumped from 30mb to 40mb but i see no increase in speed so far, but the tech did say it was a 850/900 meter line.
So over to you Sir.

Download speedachieved during the test was - 28.23 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-38.71 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 38.71 Mbps

Re: Any Update plusnet #69374863

Thats better and spot on your estimate. Once Plusnet catch up and alter your line speed to match your IP Profile you should see it increase  Grin
So if that is the case, then your reduced speed had nowt to do with Plusnet did it Wink

Re: Any Update plusnet #69374863

@30FTTC06
That's looking much better. I've just matched the profile on our side to the BT one, so if you log in to the router and do a disconnect/reconnect you should start to see the higher speeds coming through.
