Any DNS problems tonight 01/04/08 ?

Having some really sluggy/stuttery things going on while browsing. Sites fail to load then load quick then load slow ... nslookups timing out ... no rhyme reason or pattern can be google one minute and the bbc the next.
had this off and on a few days now actually
on bb+ btw pcl-ag01
wondered if there is something DNSy going on?

Re: Any DNS problems tonight 01/04/08 ?

[aol]Me too[/aol]
I've been seeing strange issues (more so than usual) when browsing in general over the last few days - excessively long DNS responses and timeouts or other failures for no good reasons. But the main problem I've been seeing has been when accessing just about all PN 'internal' services - news, mail, PN webspace and the portal. It's been erratic for several days but tonight, it's just taken me around 30 mins to finally get here to have a look to see if anyone else is having probs. Prior to now, I got nothing but timeouts due to no response and much the same situation for my own webspace and the PN mail server. In fact look-ups for my webspace and mail have been failing intermittently quite a lot in recent days it would appear.
My browser 'home page' effectively consists of a whole bunch of redirects via several A/Cs webspace, my own server and finally ends up at the portal. It should take a second or so to end up at the portal but for the last few days, it's frequently taken several 10's seconds on a good day and failed at one or more places en-route quite often.  However, it's been very intermittent, sometimes everything seems fine ... and then it's back to a go-slow or no-response again.
Wasn't there some DNS tweaking going on recently ? And I note that the DNS response charts show a worrying lack of live data also. Are the servers all present and correct but the charts are stuffed again or is there indeed a worrying lack of data going through several servers hence causing a significant bottleneck or whatever resulting in failure to respond on occasions ?

Yep, similar sluggish responses periodically, even had a 404.
To top it off we've now got lightning somewhere our way, two power dips, my profile which went back up today will now have gone down again Angry and no doubt anymore will see the target snrm go up as well Roll_eyes Angry Cry

I have had the same problems especially with FTP ... takes a long time to connect and then a long time for PASV to clear.  This is with about 8 different locations.
I am currently on pte-ag2

Uh-oh. I knew this would come back to bite me. I didn't believe in global warming but I've had the heater on in the greenhouse all day and now look what I've done! I've broken the internet. Sad
Sorry everyone.

I've done a search on your posts in the hope of discovering what oldjim's post was about. I didn't even think of going back as far as April!
edit  ... and finally I spot the topic title. Embarrassed

Re: Any DNS problems tonight 01/04/08 ?

Odd thing is I am not seeing any problems using
Primary DNS: 212.159.6.9
Secondary DNS: 212.159.6.10
and these are the two which always used to go bad  Shocked

Re: Any DNS problems tonight 01/04/08 ?

212.159.13.49 & 212.159.13.50 in my router ... it's OK now but earlier it really was kack.
On the other tangent, I'm now in a quandry ... do I edit the post title so it makes sense to new viewers or leave it so that some of your and geewiz' comments all make sense ?
decisions decisions ...
