Since the explosion at a Chelmsford electricity sub-station a week and a half ago, my "connection settings" on the portal has said the following
My Account
Your High-speed Broadband Service
Your current broadband speed is 500 Kbps
My router has been back to syncing at around 5000 - 5500 Kbps for almost all of that time. How can I get this back to where it should be please?
I've tried turning the router off overnight, to force a reconnection.

What does the BT speedtester say your IP Profile is?
Getting that to run can be difficult but I've just succeeded (at my first attempt too).

I get as far as:
"The Performance Tester is now testing Broadband connection. Your configured download throughput speed for this service is 4500 k
Please do not move away from this page and do not start any other download activity on your computer."
and progress at 96%, then it hangs.
Does this help?

That's about right as a profile for your sync speeds.

I have had this several times lately..... I think it must be overloaded.....
close the page, and then you just have to wait for about 15 minutes, and try again.....

I agree, but as the original post says, according to the portal my "current broadband speed is 500Kbps", so my router is syncing at around 5500 Kbps. BT thinks I should be operating at around 4500Kbps, but Plusnet is actually running my connection at 500Kbps

Ask PN to fix it, they can do that easily when there's a mismatch.

Hulls,
I've just updated your line profile for you. Can you please disconnect and reconnect and all should be fine.
