9am in the morning is when half the country tries to download their email for the first time.
Basically, we give you your speed as fast as our network will allow, but email and web speeds are given a higher priority.

How much can opening an email gank the lines?  Smiley I mean I know theres like few million people opening their emails and stuff though does it have to do anything with BT, since most ISP's here go through BT? Or is it just because of the plus.net clients that load the server like that?

Think of all of our business customers coming into work and checking their email and using the web for work, etc.
Because we have a finite amount of capacity, this will cause less time sensitive forms of traffic (like P2P) to run more slowly.

Have a look at the grapgh and look how the gold traffic suddenly ramps up first thing in the morning.
