Re: Am I on FTTC or ADSL?

Thanks did this - a lot of dead insects in there! but all the wiring seemed fine. Cleaned up and put back in place  - doesnt seem to have made a difference but at least its clean!

Because you are banded, it won't make any immediate difference.

If you post the router stats again, we can see if it had any effect. If it had any effect then the Noise margins will have changed.

...

Line attenuation: 10.9/26.8
Signal attenuation: 10.9/36.5

Yikes! Either a long way from the Openreach cabinet or something dodgy with the cabling somewhere. Do you know how far you are from your local Openreach cabinet?

Yes it is. The noise margins havent changed significantly which means that the faceplate wasnt the cause of the errors.

It sounds like you have a poor line back to the cabinet but getting it investigated and repaired is likely to be difficult as you are meeting the MGALS speed estimates.

Re: Am I on FTTC or ADSL?

Another issue is that the pair from the exchange to the cabinet is still in place after the switch from ADSL. It may be causing some noise on the line. Neighbour switched to SOGEA and the pair was still in place. Raised a fault with their provider, OR engineer attended noticed noise on the line, disappeared to the cabinet, 10 minutes later noise gone and speed doubled.
Was a member for years, but moved from PN fttc to fttp from an AltNet. Getting 940Mb up and down. Happy to stay on here and try to help others. 

Re: Am I on FTTC or ADSL?

@mystreet1 interesting point!. I'm not sure they (OR) would routinely disconnect the E-side pair, but they SHOULD remove the ADSL jumpers at the exchange when upgrading from ADSL to VDSL. If those jumpers are still in place then that will cause problems
