Alsager Exchange FTTC

According to the famed online BT work lists. FTTC for the Alsager Exchange should be arriving March 2012(This Month). Anyone know if this is going to happen on time. How will we know that the service is available?

Re: Alsager Exchange FTTC

Put your phone number into this - the offical BT service availability checker.
This is the sole determinate of what services are available on your line.

There is no way for anyone to find out a precise date for any upgrade to be activated.
Remember that just because an exchange has been upgraded to FTTC does not necessarily mean that your local street cabinet has been, and until it has FTTC is not available to you.

Re: Alsager Exchange FTTC

I note from that BT information source that the Alsager exchange has now been put back to June 2012 the third delay in 12 months, which suggests that none of these dates mean anything. Such is life I guess.

Re: Alsager Exchange FTTC

These dates are really just 'placeholders'.
All sorts of "problems" can emerge once the work/planning starts.
- The highways authority may raise issues over the siting of the fibre cabinets on the pavements near to road junctions...
-  There may be problems over sourcing the power supply for the cabinet.
-  There may be collapsed ducts in the local network requiring extensive groundworks/traffic control.
- The work may be delayed due to other ongoing work overunning or other emergency repairs having to be carried out taking away staff and equipment.
..and so it goes on.
