All time low speeds tonight.

I've hit my all time low speeds just now on Thinkbroadband  Sad

A typical daytime result for me would be

Is there any other explanation to consistently low speeds in the evening than undersupply of bandwidth in my locality?

Re: All time low speeds tonight.

Hi longedge,
I'm sorry to hear of the speed issues you're having 😕
I can't see any issues reported specifically at your exchange. Does this happen often? Just at peak times?

Re: All time low speeds tonight.

Is that using a wired or a wireless connection to the router?

I've been aware for a while of a big slowdown, evenings and Sunday afternoons but it hasn't really bothered me a deal as my connection normally remains adequate. I usually get 15-20 Mbps during the day (just got 15.93) and down to around 8-10  at worst in the evenings. Last night however it was just unusable at 0.8Mbps.
I'm using a laptop wirelessly and I'm fully aware of the downside to this. I have however done tests with my desktop which is connected via ethernet and to be honest there was little or no difference in recorded speeds. Although there are a number of wifi networks in my locality, I'm the only one currently using channel 3.

Re: All time low speeds tonight.

I think it's going to be worth raising a fault so that our Faults Team can have a look at a potential congestion issue.

By my raising a ticket?
Before doing so, I will speaki with my next door neighbour who is with BT. I'll get him to do a few speed checks over a few days to see what sort of results he gets - would that be a good idea?

Re: All time low speeds tonight.

That would give you a good indication as to whether or not it's a peak time issue or not - so that's a really good idea.
To raise a fault, you can do this at http://faults.plus.net
