Hi All,
I've been with Plusnet for a good few years, since 2006 I think, and have been very happy with the service. However now usage habits have changed and I am often going way over usage my usage allowance.
I'm currently on the old Broadband Your Way Option 3, which gives 30GB a month for about £20.
Looking at the front page I'm being seduced by the Plusnet Extra option, 60GB allowance at £17.99
At first glance the choice seems obvious, however I was wondering how these options really compare when it comes to stability, traffic prioritisation and how well they are adapted to our primary habits which are media streaming (iPlayer is to blame for our allowance woes) and gaming (TF2 must be played).
Reading the Plusnet Pro blurb and its talk of prioritising traffic and low pings I wonder if Broadband Your Way option 3 has simply been rebranded (with a lower allowance) as I recall coughing up for option 3 for the stability and ping.
Essentially, is it worth me switching, or should I cling on to my old product until Plusnet decide to pry it from me.
P.S. I also have web hosting included which I need to retain.
Thanks for any advice you can provide!

You can compare the traffic prioritisation using http://usergroup.plus.net/prodcomp1.php
I'm assuming you've checked that you are not on a Market 3 exchange (if you are the price of Extra is £11.49).
When your exchange is upgraded to 21CN WBC you will be able to have ADSL2+ (which is not available on BBYW).
When switching you retain all existing add-on features such as hosting.

You will keep all your existing addons
There is significantly tougher shaping on Extra
https://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/download_speeds.shtml#extraSpeeds
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/products/archive/bbyw/speed.shtml#Option3speeds
Edit - jelv types faster than me and gave a better answer

any extras you have, web hosting etc, are carried over to the new package
you can compare the throttling here http://kitz.co.uk/isp/plusnet_shaping.htm
The new package pricings are also depending on your Market, 3 is the cheap one, 1 and 2 are dearer, the bottom of the PN front page explains it http://www.plus.net/?home=hometop
you lot type to quick

Wow you guys are fast!
Thanks for the info, I feel much more informed re: traffic shaping etc. Now however after it was pointed out that I won't get it on my current plan, I am pining for an ADSL2 upgrade, having recently moved from an 8MB area to a 4MB. However exchange upgrade is not even being considered right now it seems (no date set) so I guess I'll just have to sit on my hands for now.
Anyway, thanks for the info, switching plans is looking attractive, I'll consider it further.
