Adsl2/Llu

My exchange is due to live with wbc/adsl2  in  March, my current speed is 1.5 to 1.7 on good days! as I'm a  fair way away from the exchange, would there be any noticeable difference in speeds or would a Llu like Be give faster speeds.  Just curious!

Re: Adsl2/Llu

The answer to both questions is probably 'no'. In fact on 21CN you would probalably be better off in terms of reliability with the service type set to ADSL1 - the same as you have now on 20CN. That isn't entirely negative in that you could have upstream uncapped if you wanted to which should increase upload speeds by perhaps 200kbps.
Put your attenuation into Kitz's calculator here to get a view of likely speeds.

would a Llu like Be give faster speeds.

Well Be specifically MIGHT if you have variations/intereference on your line (or wiring), because:
1. There's no BT-style DLM  to keep speeds at a "lowest common denominator"
2. On some (but not all) of their packages there's a degree of "tweaking" allowed
That said, on longer lines ADSL2+ is not significantly better than ADSL1 and "tweaking" can actually be counterproductive.
Though on Be the default upstream speed will be pretty close to 1.3mbps except in the most extreme situations as it's always uncapped.
Post your downstream attenuation and router stats here for comment.

HI john50,
We tend to say not to bother if the expected rate is less than 4000k. However, there are occasions where users have seen the benefit with a line as long as yours.

Thanks Jojo,
So when adsl2 becomes available it might be worth trying, would I be able to roll back if it caused any issues?

Re: Adsl2/Llu

HI john50,
My advise would be not to move, but it's your call at the end of the day. Rolling back could involve a significant amount of downtime and not always possible.

Re: Adsl2/Llu

Surely if you want a faster connection, you are the one to move Grin
OTOH if only one of you moved, there could be a far more essential loss of connections Wink
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.
