ASUS N55U with Plusnet Fibre

I've recently upgraded to fibre broadband and am trying to set up my existing router.  Its the N55U which I understand should work.  I've tried loading both firmware 3.0.0.4_374 and 3.0.0.5_374 but neither seem to work.  When I plug the ethernet cable from the openreach modem the LAN1 light on the modem doesn't even come on.
I tried following the instructions here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?topicid=126933 but no success.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

You have configured it for Wan Via LAN, and put your login details into the correct pages I assume.
If so, probably worth messaging grahameys who says he is using it here.

Also worth looking to see what the ADSL log is saying (System Log>ADSL Log
Will be interested to hear how you get on, because I'll be doing the same as soon as I get FTTC enabled.

Yeah, all the details are right as far as I know.
I checked the log and looks to be a line problem, not sure what to do about it though!
