In the past two weeks I finally upgraded to ADSL2+ after being an ADSL MAX customer for years.
Very pleased with the speed increase since the initial "training" period, which has gone up from 5Mb on ADSL MAX to 7.15Mb on ADSL2+ (IP Profiles). Downstream Line Attenuation is 44.5db on ADSL2+.... so pretty chuffed with the ADSL2+ resultant speed increase.
Q1. Based on my line attenuation is this IP Profile pretty much up there.... I suspect it is?
Next is probably to look at UL speeds....
These are at 443kbps.
Q2. As I understand it, you can have your UL uncapped for free if you're on ADSL2+. Is this still correct?
Q3. What is the uncapped kbps speed (or is it not that straight forward)?
Q4. After some research it would appear that un-capping the UL can effect your DL speed. Is this factual and worth the risk?

My advice is to "suck it and see"...
Ask to have the upstream uncapped - if it loses you too much ds speed, you can ask to have it capped again. I have no problems with uncapped upload.

Hi fagin,
Happy to place the order to uncap the upstream for you, if you wish?

The answers to the other questions are:
Q2: yes it's free on ADSL2/2+
Q3: up to 1Mbps, depending on line length and quality
Q4: it's unlikely. But I understand lines with uncapped upstream sometimes show higher fault rates. These could cause reduced speeds.
As Jaggies says it's worth giving uncapped upload a try.
